Fr. Farley will explore the nature and end of humankind from an Eastern Orthodox Christian perspective. His talk will address the following kinds of questions: How is the human condition understood from an Eastern Orthodox perspective? What is the nature of the Fall? How might humankind recover that which it was created to be? What is the nature of salvation, and who will be "saved"? Who will go to Hell? Fr. Farley's talk, and the moderator's introduction to it, will explain its cultural/theological significance, i.e., the way in which his perspective challenges the dominant Western theological understanding of the human condition and the economy of salvation.
