The Daughters of Penelope

Lyra Chapter 241
Greenville, SC

The Daughters of Penelope is an AHEPA Senior Ladies Auxiliary. The Daughters of Penelope, Lyra Chapter 241, was organized in Greenville, S.C. in the early 1950’s. From its conception and earliest beginnings, the goal and purpose in mind was to help all American-Hellenic families grow closer together and to serve as a resource for educational, social, and Philanthropic needs in the community.  Today, It is recognized as the largest Greek –American ladies’ organization worldwide. Our own beloved Saint George Chapter remains very strong and active, with 35 amazing, beautiful, and contributing members.

The DOP strive to promote the Hellenic traits of kindness, tolerance, patience, truth, goodness, beauty, self improvement, purity, and loyalty. The Daughters love God and support their parish, as well as being involved in many community projects. Through our various fundraisers, we carry on the tradition of giving by donating to many worthwhile local and national charities.

As the new DOP president, it is my desire to grow and cultivate our chapter. We encourage you to become a part of this sisterhood. October is Membership Drive Month and in November we will be initiating new members as well as providing a free reinstatement fee waiver to those members who have become inactive. We believe that  when we come together to work together, we succeed together. Doxa to Theo!

If you are interested in becoming a member, we welcome you with open arms. Please contact DOP President, Celia Trakas Wrice (864-525-1151) or email me @
